
The youth exchange CommuniKey equipped young people with a variety of skills and competences that improve self reflection, dialogue and understanding.
Team Building and Orienteering Race
The team building sessions helped the group to get to know each other, to open up towards people from different countries with different languages and feel comfortable in a new and intercultural group. The race encouraged creative thinking and problem-solving skills in a group. They learned to interact mindfully and solution oriented in a stressful situation. While getting into the topic of communication and its many shades.
Mood circles
Daily morning tuning into a productive day in a circle using various methods of communication and games. Participants learned to share personal feelings in different ways and trained listening and observing skills.
Intercultural communication
In a game participants got the chance to experience culture shock, tried to communicate without language, and reflected about the different perspectives and norms gained through cultural socialisation
The 4 sides Model / Communication square
Introduction and exercise about the different aspects of messages helped participants to understand the complexity of communication. They were practicing more precise expression and paying attention to unspoken information to avoid misunderstanding.
Active Listening: model of a psycho therapist Carl Rogers
In a role play participants experienced the different ways of listening to understand what big of a difference listening strategies can make.
Conflict Animals
Participants gained insights about their individual reaction to different conflicts and categorized it in different conflict styles. We discussed the use of different styles in different situations according to the intention of the conflict solving strategy.
Bulgaria: Self Discovery
Participants shared their fears and vulnerabilities in a safe environment, giving each other feedback and learning to speak tenderly and openly about difficult topics.
France: Non verbal communication
The goal was to make activities that relied on other techniques of communication than verbal. It was also for participants to realise that body language and non-verbal communication in general is everywhere in your daily life. All activities were supposed to happen in complete silence, for the participants to learn how to give information without resorting to talking.
Impact of technology
This workshop was held to show participants in practice how the way of communication with a partner affects the degree of mutual understanding. Participants practiced in pairs: communicating with eye contact with the interlocutor, only voice messages, only text messages without the ability to see the interlocutor.
Estonia: Job interviews
The group tried on different social roles and, through group work, had the chance to feel which role they liked best in the game and, accordingly, in real society.
Estonia: Soft skills
The goal of this session was to get acquainted with different soft skills, find growth points in yourself and practice their development in groups using different communication methods.
Armenia: Leadership
In this session participants exchanged views on leadership, practiced leadership tasks in different forms and roles, and analyzed the experience and roles occupied by the participants in the proccess.
Ukraine: Analysis of communication
The goal of this workshop was to provide participants with a safe space in which they could observe and analyze their communication patterns through games and practices. At the end, participants shared that they had learned a lot about themselves in the context of society.
Georgia: Non violent communication
Participants got acquainted with the concept of nonviolent communication and were able to experience it through their own lens in a role play, followed by sharing with the whole group and discussing in an informal setting.
Trust labyrinth
The goal of this workshop was to reach a new level of communication, support and understanding in the group. The process was quite meditative, in silence, sometimes participants had their eyes closed and could only communicate with the help of touch. The process was very deep, transformative.
